I took RESPONS´ 2day/1night private tour to the Humacchuco community and had a very good experience. Not only was I able to experience what community life is like in the Huaraz area, I was also within hiking distance from the Parque Nacional Huascarán! This meant after visiting Laguna Llaganuco with my private tour guide (who is from the Humacchuco community) we were able to stroll back to the community through the peaceful Maria Josefa trail. The next morning, after a wonderful breakfast prepared by my hosts, we started our hike to Laguna 69 at 8am and had the entire trail to ourselves and were the first ones to arrive at the lake at 11.30am! By the time the tour groups from Huaraz were half-way through their ascent up the lake, the fog had already started rolling in (covering up part of the view) and we were already happily descending after having our simple lunch by the lake.
A great way to experience something different and to "beat the crowds" to get to Laguna 69!
